Jelena is my drug

“If I was your boyfriend…” I sung over the phone as Selena walked through the crowded grocery store. A new tradition of ours was to call each other when we did things we used to to together, separately. As long as our schedules would allow, of course.
“Do I like skim or whole milk.” She frowned.
“Skim.” I announced, proud of myself for remembering.
“Right, because it doesn’t make me bloat.”
“Nothing makes you bloat.” I argued.
“Agree to disagree.” She chuckled,  and I could hear a clunk noise as she set the milk down in the cart.
“If I was your boyfriend, I would never let you goooooooo.” I sang again, working my harmonies to their extent.
“I think that ship sailed.”
“And I’m driving it, sweetheart.”
“So how long do I have to wait to here the full version?” Selena asked, although she knew the answer.
“We’ve been over this a thousand times. Tonight at midnight.” I groaned, checking my clock to note a total of five hours left.
“So you are telling me that the girl the song is inspired by has to wait until twelve, just like the general public?” She gasped playfully.
“Who said you inspired it?” I chuckled, smiling as Scooter walked in the door.
“You did.”
“Oh right, man I shouldn’t have told you that.” I bit my lip, “I have to go Selena. But call me at twelve, I wanna hear your reaction.”
“I wanna hear Boyfriend, boyfriend.” She demanded as I hung up the phone.
